hi guys,
ive just changed my headunit to a clarion VRX486VD using the areopro harness'
and now the car wont start or even lock the doors! when i turn the key to on everything dies and the park indicator on the dashboard flashes faintly....
does this have something to do with the little plug in the back of the stock head unit? if so how do i rectify the issue?
thanks
AJ

welcome to AMC!
its not a flat battery from leaving doors open while installing stereo?
Also is there anything displayed on your trip computer screen? eg a S or a W?

i dont think it would be the battery as the battery was disconnected for the entire time....
and yes i do the the programming info on the screen, i can even set it, but as soon as i turn it from ACC to ON everything dies

I know it's pretty vague, but I would guess you might have knocked loose a connection somewhere? I also wonder if it's the battery, and it just happens to be a coincidence with your new headunit.
I can tell you for sure that simply changing to an aftermarket headunit won't give you any problems. The headunit isn't tied into the rest of the car like a lot of newer cars are.
