Gday,
Im wondering if any one has ever weighed their factory alloys, either the 15's or the 16's. If anyone has these factory alloys, could you do me a big favour and weigh your spare for me. I want to compare the alloy wheel weight to the factory steelie weight, I can weigh my own spare steelie, just hoping there is some one out there who can weigh their spare alloy for me. Has anyone ever done this before?
Cheers.

We work with real sized wheels on our magnas, not the under sized charade version  .

lol, undersized as in smaller than my subs? :bowrofl: mate of mine said he wanted 14s for his oldschool mini....14s are big for minis, 20s are big for magnas!

ROH, under contract, manufacture most of Mitsubishi's alloy wheels. :)

If you reduce your unsprung weight it makes the car stick a bit better onto the deck, it will let the wheels move up and down quicker with out the weight.
I wieghed my spare once, i think it was about 20 kg. also on bathroom scales. It is a normal steel one with a RE92 205/65 tyre on it.
Was looking at turfing some stuff to improve power/wieght ratio. I have factory CSA 15 x 6.5 alloys, never wieghted one of them as I planned on keeping them on the car while driving lol

Since probably the TR/KR days??? My OEM KS wheels were made by ROH.

ROH made the standard F2 charade wheels at 14" and 9.8kg with tyres. seems mitsu didn't throw enough money at ROH for some quality wheels. I cant see the moderatly larger wheels and tyres adding a further 10kg to the gross weight

Not sure exactly either, but the standard 15" wheels on my 94 TS V6SI were also made by ROH. They were called the Mitsubishi "Manta" rim. They were used on the more recent Solara models too.
The stock 17" rims on my VRX are also made by ROH.

Got any pics of the F2 wheels chum? And would the fact they don't have to support as much load, have anything to do with their overall weight/strength?

Im not reffering to just torque though, more the actual load on the wheels. Your car for example, like 800 kgs x 4, 200kg per wheel. My car, 1450kg x 4, 362kg per wheel. And the old astrons werent exactly toruqe monsters anyway, but still weighed a good 1150kg.

Yeah but for example: a car with 200Nm and weighing 1000kg will have larger driveline stress than a car with 200Nm and weighing 500kg :D ....not that that would matter so much on the wheel, it would do more with the weight of the car :)
