Hey Lads,

Been having this problem for a while now, but the problem is its way too inconsistant, there are days when the car is fine and there are days when it takes me 5 mins to get her started.

Mostly on cold starts but it does happen when the engine is warm also, I have a problem with the care where there is one massive pause before the motor kicks over.

Turning it on, there will be a click but nothing happens after that, even if you flick on and off numerous times, it will just click and not kick over.

I literally have to hold the key on for anywhere up to 15-20 seconds before she will turn over and start, and that is if i'm lucky and she starts.

Has anyone had this problem with this particular model? I just came back from battery world and the battery tested fine with all the diagnostic tools, so must be starter motor perhaps?????????

Any help much appreciated, cheers lads.

A Magna will crank no worries even with the bem disconnected

The issue you have is most likely with the solonoid on the starter, is a common problem in the second gen V6 and is starting to become an issue with the third gen also. Have had a few like this, one was the ignotion switch others were the starter.

Best way to test is to grab a test light, try to get the issue to occur and see if you have any power to the trigger wire on the starter when you are attempting to crank
