Noticed today on my way home from work, that several ants came out of the air vents on the dash. Not sure how the hell they got in there, i need to get rid of them.
So, Im thinking I'll spray some RAID NatureGuard into the vents. When I set the vents from FRESH AIR to RECYCLE AIR, where does the air get sucked in from? Coz Im thinking I'll spray a little in there, and turn on the fan to let it cycle through and kill whatever is in there.
Any thoughts? Good / Bad idea?
Anyone else had this happen and how did they get rid of it?

I've disrupted a few ant nests in cars while I've been detailing them. Millions of the bastards everywhere. I used Mortine Surface spray that kills cockroaches etc and sprayed along the door jambs, seals, everywhere the ants were. Once they were all dead I just wiped most of the residue off and left it at that.
Makes ya car stink a bit though.
As for the recycled air vent - it's usually located under the glove box (in the front passenger foot well) somewhere. Will no doubt make your air con system stink for a while. Not sure if this would affect the filters and that though....

There are no filters to worry about, have seen many ants nests in cars usually under the carpet
Try ant rid somewhere you have seen the ants, this way the little buggers will go back to the nest, die, get eaten by their comrads and they will die also
i got small crawling black things behind my fuel filler door

should see a doctor about that :iough:
i dont think that it would be a good idea to spray bug spray into the ac. i would be more inclined to put the heater on for a while, and see how many come out. You may not have a nest, just a couple looking for a feed

lol Ants? That's nothing! Wait til you find mouse nests in your car, and chewed up wires! grrr
If you do spray you can get a deodoriser for the a/c. apparantly it smells nice and kills bacteria and other stuff. It's about $25 at repco and i think the part number is something like "ORX013"

Thanks Guys.
Might spray some insect spray into the vents and see how it goes. Then I will get the repco deodoriser which should remove the smell and kill bacteria etc.
Good luck. I had the little buggers last summer. Took me weeks to work out where they were coming from, until I saw them carrying door along the drivers door sill and in under the drivers wheel arch. So a fair bit of spray into there, and a huge vacuum/clean out and i haven't seen one since.
What gets me is how does the odd ant get onto the exterior of the car at night. I'm thinking they must get blown on from the tree outside maybe.

I had these after leaving my car at long term parking for a week..
A few weeks of "die!" while I squashed them into the dash eventually worked..
Oh, and some of those ant bait things..
