well all this time the TR has been plotting along strong. been using it for towing the boat and random crap and just a basic run around car. but now there is a problem.

it cant stick to its gears. and by that i mean you will be crusing along at 80 in 4th and then it will drop to second then go to third and back to second then fourth then stick in third till your past 4000rpm then go to fourth. has been doing that a lot and now its doing that of take off as well. you take off in first and it will go to second then just slams back to first then third then into fourth. then the whole song and dance starts over again.

any idea what this could be??? the transmission has a new filter and new oil in it and was service 3-4 months ago. could it be a TCU failure?

Best for me to have a look mate, is a little hard to diagnose over here unfortunately as is not a std fault

lol Sounds like the TPS is throwing a fit - the gearbox is responding to major throttle input changes when you are not changing throttle settings. Check the plug for corrosion, then get a multimeter on it and see what it is doing.

Did they put the right fluid in the tranny, Magna Auto's are very sensitive to that - and I'm still learning but with a TCU fault don't they lock in 3rd ?

Disconnect the TPS and see how the car runs then - do this first!

TCU is behind the radio.
