Hey dudes,
I've got a 05 vrx that i purchased a month ago.I have a problem with noisy lifters once the engine is warm. It's got 105000 k's on it.I knew i shouldn't have, but i used oil flush drained the oil and put Penrite Syn 5 (5-60).As stated when cold start no problem-once warm noisy lifters.I purchased Mobil 1 5w-50 and will put this in, hoping this will fix the problem.Any opinions? Thanks for any replies.

I'd try a heavier weight Penrite oil. Do a search this topic has been covered before.

interesting.... i'm still running mobil 1 5w-30 in my TL @111000km and no noise, i was running Mobil 1 5w-50 in my previous TF with 186000km and that was fine, but as suggested try a 10w or 15w oil...
btw, is the motor well maintained (regular oil changes, no sludge build up in motor)?
I know Madmagna is a big fan of Penrite....

Penrite is great, Used it in my 2nd gen forever and it always ran like a dream.
You can get an oil additive when you change oil next (lifter noise stop stuff)
that does the trick in my 3rd gen

G'day,
I have a 05 VRX with nearly the same K's I also have noisy lifters on start up only. Have been using Penrite HPR 10 (semi synthetic 10w-50) the last couple of oil changes and it has improved. But noisy lifters are part on owning a Magna.

The monil will not fix, will if anything make worse. The engine flush is not an issue and will sometimes fix the issue
Try another decent flush and Penrite HPR10. If still noisy you may need to face the fact that they need replacing as the valves in the lifters may be blocked. This can be caused for various reasons such as poor quality oil used in the past

Are you sure its the lifters?,my 05` TW VRX had a new short motor put in under warranty becuase i complained of knocking/ticking noises at idle when hot,it sounded "tapperty" but sounded much "deeper" in the engine to be normal, they had an engineer in the workshop at the time who looked over my complaints and found piston slap to be the issue, whatever they did it hasnt returned,so soemthign to consider

I have a Magna TE V6 myself and U have noisy lifters at the moment. Only on startup for a min and then its gone. I'll try an engine flush myself on my next oil change and I'm guesing Penrite HPR10 is the way to go? I'm not even sure what the benefits are of semi and fully synthetic oil. Anyone car to share how this works with lifters? I've read thicker oils work better but mixed research so far...

noisy lifters are part on owning a Magna.
mine has 233,000kms and no lifter noise or any ticking whatsoever.
If it is the lifters, they need to be removed, checked over, cleaned and if faulty replaced.
I think this is an expensive job.
