sorry eek, the old system is going in my bro's new car...
and StarionBoy i don't know what planet ur living on... coz for 5.25" speakers they go DAMN hard! the quality is amazing, was thinking about going to the polykevlar series but they're about $800 and these were quite nice..
oh and buttons? nah... its touch screen :-D i think the green ones are for the main menus...
cars in Tonkins at the moment, waiting till 4 till i can pick it up!
the rest of the system is being re-built atm aswell, already got some cheap kenwood 6x9's for some rear fill (mainly treble) and now trying to figure out how 2 get the 4 subs back in without sacrificing 2 much boot space
those speakers are a bit of a let down
are u crazy! those speakers are awesome! yeh, kevlar series would be nice, but cost too much like asylum said. BOOT SPACE? why bother think about boot space if u have 4 subs already! lol go crazy with fibreglassing, neons and caps! haha, i want a screen too, and guages. thinking of mounting screen on passenger dash, since there's no airbag there :)

ahh no probs man, yeah i have 2 agree they don't really look the best, but that coz they're an excellent designed speaker and definately function over looks... and they'll be hidden behind the factory grills anyway!
total the upgrade is costing.... $3200 (installed)
not too bad i think really seeing the head unit a few months was $2700 on its own!
i think the amp and speakers are about $500 each and $2000 for the CD/DVD reciever plus a little bit for installation

i couldn't help myself... its pitch black and the flash is stupidly bright but here it is (can't see any of the stuff so no photos of that tho)

im planning on doing the rest of the console silver aswell, i loved it! very effective cheap mod!
the total system includes (without part numbers)
Eclipse DVD/CD/MS/Tuner unit
Alpine V12 4x55WRMS amp
US Audio 1x1000WRMS amp
Focal Polyglass 5.25" splits
Kenwood 4-way 6x9's (soon 2 be replaced)
Pioneer 500WRMS subs (x4)
Fusion 1.5farad capacitor

Nice but why dont you just use 2 of your subs and run them @ full or more accurately, nominal power instead of giving them 1/2 nominal power? Well your lucky they only need 1 cuft ( 28litre ) sealed boxes. :D Either that or buy a JL1000/1  yum yum a proven 1500WRMS @ 4 ohm.

i use the amp at 13.2-14.4V @ 1ohm, which brings it up to about 1200WRMS.
i've had both the 2 and the 4 setup on and off again, but i'm re-desiging it so i can still get to the spare, and mann... those 4 went absolutely crazy

Ha 4 12's that is crazy, as long as you can get them to fit. The boot is pretty big so im sure you can fit 4 cuft worth of box in there! Do you have a battery upgrade? How do you get the voltage to stay up that high? :D You should make an SPL box for 2 of the 12's so you can compete in Street B db racing.

yeah im sure i can fit 4 pretty well, i had all 4 in 1 huge box, and still had a bit of room, but couldnt get to the spare tyre, so gonna do it a bit smarter this time.
i'm using an Optima dry cell battery and the fusion 1.5 farad capacitor, which the readout is normally between 12.8 and 15.1 but averages 13-14v :-)

Isnt there a way that you can make 2 subs share a box without making it double the size required for 1 sub? :D
Asylum
02-06-2004, 07:57 PM
umm... not that i know of! unless one it free air and the other is sealed? i think i should b ok with the design i've sorta sketched out in my head... will b able 2 fit all 4, have ski hole open (without anything blocking it) and still get 2 spare, which should still leave a bit of boot space if i ever need it
Mr İharisma
02-06-2004, 08:03 PM
Dont worry dude im just tripping i just though they could share a box or something, dont know much about the box designs themselves. Im happy to have 1 sub... your just greedy he he. Well what are you gunna put in there, the shopping? Whatever you put in there will get blasted away and broken. Hope you have sound deading on tap :D

i think i know what u mean Mr Charisma,
it's an isobaric configuration where i sub in facing another sub, one wired correctly ( + = +, - = -) and the other (+ = -, - = +)
but the bos has to be twice the size !
Asylum
03-06-2004, 07:30 AM
yeah, theres lots of ways 2 set it up, but most of em are too hard to calculate, so i'll stick with good old sealed!

well, turns out a box 35x35x42 is PERFECT!! should fit both subs either side of the wheel arches with the ski-hole uncovered! that should sound perfect, now, where to put the other 2?
