View Full Version : strut brace
Anyone know where I can get hold of strut braces front/rear for my tj in the Sydney area?
How much do they cost? and can I fit myself easily?
please.
mmm...u can fit it urself easily
i don't live bout 1000ks from sydney so i'm not sure, try ssv or whiteline etc.
if u were to be dodgey, u could just try and weld thogether a strub brace right in ur backyard! does the same job, but might lack the looks, shapes strength and purpose
Thanks ill try ssv & whtieline,I can ally TIG weld...umm i wonder.
To fit is it simply bolting on to the strut towers? do you have to tension it?

Whiteline's strut bars does the job well!
Play around with the tension to get the right feel you want in the car :)
thanks I ll order one on wednesday, pay day!!.
How much btw? :P

There should be no tension on a strut brace, except when you are driving/cornering. By tensioning the bar when you fit it, you are already reducing the brace's loading capacity before you even drive the car.

thats a whiteline item. Whiteline used to have yellow mounting rings but theyve changed colour schemes now and do everything silver.
They do the job well.. Car feels flatter to the ground with it fitted. ONce the bar is fitted just adjust the leng with a wrench with only a little bit of force. Dont want to overlengthen the bar.
If you can't find anyone stocking them then RPW does stock them all the time - cannot recomend them enough as the difference on the car is amazing.
Especially when combined with a good set of sway bars, especially a rear one if your ride doesn't allready have one. :D

Does anyone know if the VRX have a sway bar? I remember being told a while ago that it did but im not sure if it does.
Blake - My Ol'mans 2001 VR-X has a factory rear one.
I believe both the sports & vr-x models came with them out of the factory...

Yep, TJ Sports/VRX and Ralliart have swaybars.
No, the Ralliart doesnt have a strut brace standard, i added a Whiteline Strut Brace to my Ralliart.
I paid $170 and am also in awe of them, makes a big difference.

Corners are sooo much more fun with the whiteline bars (strut and rear) and lovells springs. Can't wait for the 17s. :D
