I've checked through search but thought I'd create a new thread for this specific issue.
I have noticed recently with my TF Magna 3.0L that there is a power loss in the car. Today I drove up the southern expressway (in Adelaide), and the car struggled to maintain the 100kph.
The car starts instantly with the turn of the key and otherwise runs ok. A few days the power was ok, but only for a moment when accelerating! I keep the car well serviced, and the oil is always a nice clean golden colour (like fresh oil I mean).
I was wondering whether anyone has any ideas of what it could be? has anyone else experienced this?
Through the other threads I read it could be the distributor or vacuum lines, but I don't want to be blindly replacing parts left right and centre! The spark plugs leads and spark plugs have already been replaced!
Thanks :)

has it happened before?
it was freaking hot today, maybe the ecu retarded the ignition or entered a limp mode?

I thought it may have been a bit sluggish in the last 2 weeks maybe? I have driven the car previously in much hotter weather without this power loss. I know the hill at the beginning of the southern expressway on the city side is pretty steep, but still I would have thought it should maintain 100kph with a fair bit of pedal even with the AC on full! and yes it did drop back to 3rd!

Well went for a long drive again today, and tried a couple of things. Here's the situation:
- Starts instantly
- At idle and in neutral (when warm of course), doesn't rev as fast as it should
- I put it in first and floored it (in an 80 zone of course), and it got to 7000rpm no worries, rev limited cut in
- Idles smoothly and otherwise feels reasonably smooth. Engine sounds good at idle.
- Put your foot down even at 50 when its in third, just enough so it doesn't kick back and it slowly climbs in speed (pretty much happens right across the rev range). It required a lot of pedal to maintain 100kph on the southern expressway like I previously mentioned. I reckon if I were driving along a 110kmh limit highway and had to overtake a road train it would struggle!
- I have 34PSI all around in the tyres. No eneven tyre wear even though I've done a couple of hundred since I first noticed it.
- When taking off I need a lot of accelerator to keep up with the traffic flow.
Has anyone experienced these symptoms? if so, and they have been rectified, what was the cause & price. Also any general suggestions?
The problem with taking it to a garage is they don't know what the specific car is normally like in terms of power, and most people don't exactly see the Magna's as having lots of power!

not sure if its the same but had an issue with the TF manual ran fine under 2500 rpm higher than that it would surge n carry on down on power, the fix was me was a spare no expense one as i put it down to either fuel or plugs
changed rear bank plugs, dumped a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in it and changed the fuel filter, filled up from half a tank on e10 with 98 ron fuel, problem went away over the next day or so, never used e10 since never had the problem since

Sounds like a dirty air filter. Can't breate when it needs more air.
Worth trying before spending heaps.
