Gday all
I replaced the insturment cluster in my tr, because the old ones speedo was jumping all over the place. The new one seems to be fine, but the revs are different to in the old one. In the old one, at roughly 100 i would be doing 2500 in 5th. In the new one, im doing 3500. I dont know if the new cluster is off or if the old one was off, or if it was because the car is still recovering from its recent repairs. (cracked cyinder heads)
If anyone can help me out and tell me what kind of revs they get at 60 70 80 100 etc, it would be a great help.
Thanks!

Would this mean I need a new one, or can it be adjusted?

not sure on that sorry, if it sat for a long time maybe a bit of crc in the back of the mechanism might help it.

You didn't get a cluster from a 4cyl and put it on a V6 did you? Maybe the tacho is expecting 4 sparks per 4 revs and getting 6 per 4 revs.

I dont know what kind it is from. I asked the wreckers for a manual instrument cluster. Is there any way to find out?

phone back the wrecker and ask if it was out of a 4cyl or v6

Would Mitsubishi still sell them? If so, what kind of price would they want? It was hard enough to find this one!
Yes, they would sell one, But they would have to get it sent away to get the odometer set to match your old one. so you would be paying for a new one plus getting is celebrated. so buying a new one would be
I can check the price at work tomorrow if you like, I work in spare parts at my local mitzy dealer. :D
We normally send them off to get celebrated or repaired. Probably cheaper, never looked the price of a new one. Have a look in the yellow pages for a auto electrician that is authorized to open instrument clusters.
Or ask your local mitzy dealer who they send there work too. doubt they do it at the dealership.
