Hey peeps, i am fairly new to the forums here and wondering if there is an easy fix to my boot button not working (the one in the glove box) when i press it, i heard a noise as if it was working but the boot failed to pop up ? i then decided to get my partner to push the button wile i manually opened the boot to visually inspect what was going on..
the cable does not seem to be snapped and does still engage but only just a little, its as if its not pulling hard enuff is there a way to tighten the cable tension, or is their more to the story???
also i have flicked the switch on the boot latch to (free) so that possibility is now excluded..
any help would be appreciated...cheers

check all your wiring, clean your battery terminals? I'm guessing (shoot me) its electronic

wiring is good.... battery terminals are perfect, so you presume its an electrical problem? can the cable be tightened? or would it have something to do with the motor that pulls the cable? maybe worn out? ..dont suppose you have had the same problem?

nope I've got a 2nd gen, unless your latch is gunked up It could be any of those things.

Welcome to the forums altera. I think you're on the money with it being a problem with the cable. What I would do is open the boot manually and see how far the mechanism moves to be able to open it, then get someone to press the boot button and see how far it's moving. If it's not moving at all then you've got yourself a problem. It may just be a simple adjustment or you may have to replace a few components.

If you remove the trim panel on the left side of the boot you will find the boot lids electric actuator mechanism alongside the power aerial. Unbolt it, sit it to one side & disconnect the cable from the boot lid lock mechanism. You then press the boot open button & check if the actuator arm is operating fully also check the cable as it may have frayed at either end & jammed itself. Picked up a replacement 3rd gen cable & actuator from Jolly's wreckers a couple of weeks ago for my sons Verada as it had the same problem all up it cost about $25.00.
