Hi guys i was after a lil help i'm about to bye a new head unit for my TJ magna and i want to try and put it in myself its just a little alpine one, does anybody know how to pull the dash apart without breaking it, some step by step instructions would be awesome.

baHahahahahhahaa! just to scare u i broke the RHS clip of the air-con vent piece and lost a metal clip on the back of the main big centre piece. its $484 to replace the vents and 10 bucks for the clip that disappeared, so be careful!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah, do a search, or follow my VERY vague description.

take out ciggie lighter plug and coin tray
rip out the bottom piece, by putting ur hands inside the hole where the coin tray was, and pull out towards u. this piece is held in by two clips on the top left and right corners

next, get a screwdriver and shove it on the two corners between the main big piece and air-con vent piece, and pry it out....its a very very gay process, but yeh, if u do it too quickly (e.g 10seconds) u will snap the clips! yeh, that piece is held in by two clips down the bottom corners. once u uncliip it, there is a cable attached to the drivers' side, just disconnct it (very very fiddley process)

now, it should expose two screws. unscrew these only 1 or two turns, unclip the rotary controls, and disconnect hazard switch plug behind it, unclip it some more, and it should come out.

take off the side metal frames and unplug headunit, and take it out! then in with the new

put the stuff back in reverse order u took it out.

hope his helps...been a while since i ripped mine out..btw, i have a TF magna, so there might be some minor diffs...not sure. anwyayz, good luck!
