So I kind of went bush bashing in my TF yesterday - drove on a horrible rutted road, and through thigh deep water (both sides of road were blocked off, had no choice unless I wanted to be trapped at the Wombeyan caves). I accidentally drove over a couple of rocks too. After the last and deepest water crossing, my oil light has been flickering. The oil level is fine, and the engine sounds and runs ok. It seems to flicker when going over bumps. There are definitely no leaks under the car and the oil pressure switch is dry and plugged in properly.

I'm in a bit of a pickle because normally I would never drive it but I'm stuck in Canberra at the moment. Could this just be the sensor wiring or could I have destroyed something by?

oil pressure switches fail on evo's and do exactly what you described... the evo ones are $30 brand new, genuine from mitsu..

may not be the same problem but mite be worth borrowing a switch and giving it a go...

Well the next morning it seems to be fine. No light. I Think the water has done some kind of damage though. I had a wheel bearing issue before and I think it's worse now. I'm getting a whirring noise on deceleration and a whir/clicking on turning. Could the water have done that? And yeah, I've checked the cvs. Unless water got in those too..
