what speakers /unit have to be added to a normal radio
to get that doof doof sound
being a wagon we have to make the connections unplug

Subwoofer = doof doof
You will also need an amp to power the sub...

Take it to a car audio installer, hand over $1000, enjoy cheap & nasty doof doof
IMO, $1k would get you something respectable these days, rather than cheap & nasty.
eg: the club sponsor, Shopping Secure Car Audio (Joe), currently has 4 different 12" subs priced under $300 and various amps starting ~ $150, although a bit more powerful an Amplifier might be a good idea.
Although I ran 2x Earthquake 12" subs from just 2 channels of a 4x40W RMS amplifier and they produced enough doof doof in a small car to give me permanent hearing damage.
Or to make things easier, Joe sells 2x12" subs in an enclosure with an integrated 600W amplifier for $580. http://www.shoppingsecure.com.au/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=113
I'd guess that would be powerful enough for good bass in a big wagon.
Cheers + welcome to the young crowd :P Graham.

I agree, but only if you do it yourself - my system came in just under $1k with mostly second hand gear and poor tweeter location aside it's a decent balance.
Oooh, to a normal radio?
That makes things a little more difficult - after market radios normally have a subwoofer (& often front & rear) line out (RCA cables) which you can then attach to the amplifier.
If you've only got a factory unit, then you will either need to upgrade it, at least $200 (but probably more) there for something useable, or find an amplifier which can receive it's signal from the speaker wires, then connect the rear speakers into the amplifier as it's signal source. Years ago amps with that feature were pretty easy to find but were normally the lower end of the quality spectrum, I don't know what options there are for that these days.

Thanks for suggesting me guys!
My pick (since I'm actually using one) would be the VIBE CBR12: http://www.shoppingsecure.com.au/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=132
Basically it includes Box/Sub/Wires/Amp I can also provide plugs so you can pull the whole thing out in one go.
It also has high level inputs so you can use the rear channels off your factory head unit to power the sub.
For the fronts I would suggest using a LOC: http://www.shoppingsecure.com.au/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=69
Then selecting an amp of your choice and set of speakers of your choice. I can help with selection but I would need to know budget and the kind of music you listen to. I would also need to know if you have 6.5" speaker holes in the front.
Hope that helps.

When i brought my magna i was faced with the same problem how can i use my existing sub and amp without changing the head unit. I found the solution at WOW... you can buy a line level converter, made things simple as!! wire it straight off the rear speakers to the amp, takes little time and the sound quality is better than i expected!
