Hi guys,

I've recently ordered this parking camera (http://www.autogizmo.com.au/cube/parking-sensor-kits/reversing-cameras/reversing-camera-400/prod_21.html) and this WiFi AV Transmitter (http://www.autogizmo.com.au/cube/parking-sensor-kits/reversing-cameras/wifi-av-transmitter/prod_32.html) to go with it for my 1997 kf xi verada. My rationale was to make the install cleaner and easier as i wouldn't have to run any wires to the boot.

However, my question is basically how am i going to power these things? Both require 12v and short of running cables from the front of the car (sorta defeats whole purpose of the wifi) are there any 12v sources in the boot i can use instead? I'm guessing the reversing light would be the best option so the things aren't running constantly. But, is this even possible, or would running the extra two things off it blow a fuse?

Secondly, and sorry if this is a really noob question, but from my understanding this camera will screw ontop of license plate, and will have atleast a couple wires running out of it which need to go inside the boot somehow. How have you other parking camera peeps taken care of this wiring without drilling holes? Or is that the only way? I'm sort of hoping i can just run it straight down the bottom edge such that it gets squashed everytime i close the boot but hopefully not so squashed that they'll break... If this is impossible i'm thinking the next best thing is to drill a small hole behind the number plate?

Any help would be much appreciated! Apologies for my ignorance but this is my first car so really not very cluey at all when it comes to the electrics.

Cheers

I run my reversing camera off my reverse lights with no dramas.

sweet, cheers mate!

Did you drill any holes in boot or did you just run it under the lid where it closes?

For my camera install I drilled a hole above the license plate where the license light are, its behind a plastic piece so its protected from water. I've taken a picture, its on my computer somewhere so I'll upload it shortly.

The bigger hole on the right of middle of the lamps is the hole I drilled. You have to take the plastic part off, you need to remove three bolts from inside the boot and you should be pull it off as there's another two plastic studs on either side of the parts. Hope this helps.

Yeah me too, just make sure you use the right wires that's at least the same gauge as the OEM ones, I lost all power without blowing a fuse (??) when I didn't, I started a thread b/c of this problem... There's not much room in the rear lamp assembly so be careful about where you splice the wire, as you need to plug the rear lamp back if you taken it out to work on it.

I drilled one epic big hole in my bootlid and used a flat camera.

Being a Verada Xi I also have the bootlid carpet and the little plastic wire cover going down the bootlid hinges which makes all the cabling invisible.
