well i am fairly new to this car audio bizzo, so today i got a local car audio supplier, to install some 6x9 pioneer 300 watt 3 way speakers i just purchased from them, to replace my 10 year old+ stock mitsubishi speakers, which were working fine but would distort severely at high levels, as you would expect from these speakers ... once the new 6x9 were installed i noticed that it had improved greatly, its only powered by my pioneer head deck atm, and yet there is still some distortion but at higher levels as before, not that i am dissapointed (sorta) but i am wondering how i can clear the speakers up a lil , i still have my stock 6'' speakers in the front doors which my be bluring my perception on things but, i just need some info on as what to do to obtain a clearer sound?
ps .. please dont say buy better speakers....
pps.. these are the speakers...http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/car-sound/car-speakers/pioneer-ts-a6963e-car-speakers/472234

alright so if i was to purchase an amp how many watts should it be to power the two rear 6x9's plush new 6'''s in the font unsure on exactly what wattage they will be as of yet and a 10" sub i plan on getting, as i hate 12'' subs for doof doof, ? and approximatly what would an installer charge to hook the amp up to the speakers and run a fuse from the battery etc etc

Wattage will depend on hardware selection mate. Anything 50rms or more should be sufficient. And btw buying splits would make a huge difference, theres no denying it.
12" Subs don't actually mean doof doof mate, my 12" BlackAir from VIBE sounds better than most 10" subs out there. Speakers are usually $55 to install and amplifiers are usually $80-100 depends on the installer. Make sure you ask them questions to suss them out before you allow them to work on your car or at least ask us first so we can give you an opinion.
Which part of Sydney are you from because I can demo some of my gear for you.

I know it may sound a tad obvious, but what about backing the Bass adjustment back a little ?
You may be listening to your tunes with the bass up a little bit high..
Your fronts are only 15 watters, it may be an Idea to replace the fronts with a set of splits... this would help Lift the clarity of the front end..
Where are you located altera... Perhaps we can suggest some installers?

what exactly are splits? are you reffering to 2-way and 3-way speakers?
and i am in penrith ,(glenmore prk) exactly..
so what exactly are the benifits of a 12'' sub as opposed to a 10'' one, are the 10'' subs better for dance music cause the cone can reflex quicker and not have the drone of a 12'' sub?

and all my audio adjustment levels are at 0, the guy who installed my 6x9 set it up this way, so i presume he knew what he was doing?
the installer was (i think) extream car audio or car adudio eccelence ,on high st in penrith...

Splits AKA Components are a Tweeter and seperate woofer with some sort of Cross over to pprevent the tweeter from getting bass signals.
http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/rkt/MEDIUM//43/57/4357510.jpg
The main advantage to having splits is being able to aim the upper frequencies in a correct manner to have the sounds appear more crisp and clean..
It is possible with a Co-axial (Woofer and tweeter mounted on the same frame) but takes ALOT more work to get the desired results..
The Main benefits of having a larger sub is frequency response.. a 12 inch sub has more surface area therefore in theory will be able to move more air then a 10 inch sub, so it will go lower.. Not necesarily louder, but lower.
(This is a basis of theory as there are so many variations of tuning that can correct down falls)..
I have a 12 inch Ported sub and listen to everything from Dance to Metal..

If you want to I can take a drive up to penrth and demonstrate my 12. I can run it ported and sealed so it might be worth it as an educating experience. I can also have a look at your tuning.

It's impossible say say one brand is "the best" in car audio ;) Every speaker will have different tonalities and performance, it's all up to the individual on what they like.
In regards to the OP, as said before upgrading to splits will give you a significant increase in your audio experience, even keeping the HU the same they'll still give you better sound - as the stock spears are rubbish :P

Wow. What an uneducated response. Best difference you will make will be new front speakers. For your use you will find coax speakers to be fine without the additional costs of extra wiring and installation of splits.
Secondly will be the amp. A basic 4 channel 30-50 watt per channel amp from a half decent brand will be more than enough for you, at first you can use all for channels for your front and rear channels, and later swap the 6x9s back to the deck and use 2 channels on a sub. For wiring, and fitting of an amp the are generally $200-300 in most cases.
Once you go for the amplifier make sure you seek professional advice on tuning etc.
When buying speakers never bother looking at 3 or 4 way speakers, keep it simple with 2 ways and you will reap the rewards of better quality 9 times out of 10 :)

Just go into your local car audio store, demo a few sets of speakers and see which ones you like the sound of... It helps if you play a track you are familiar with so you know how it is supposed to sound..

A cheap amp and splits are a good start over stock. But in my experience a headunit with good sound options is what can turn the lot into something that fits your taste exactly.
