Hey all, I've got an '01 TJ Advance with the stock Mistu 4 speaker head unit (says Hi Power on the front in yellow writing)

Anyway, have bought some KJ door tweeters and pods and plan on installing them in parallel with the stock front speakers. This means instead of 4ohms/channel it will be 2ohms/channel.

My question is will the stock head unit handle running at 2ohms?

Was hoping to keep the stock stereo in place if possible.

Thanks guys.

You need a crossover to break up the different sound levels otherwise you'll blow the tweeters awful quick.

Have a quick look at the tweeters themselves and if you have little black barrels (capasitors) then there is your "crossovers" it would be fine to then connect them to your factory head unit. It wouldn't be running at 2ohm either as the mid loses efficiency in the uper range

Yep the tweeters have the little black capacitors on them, they're genuine parts with the wiring and plugs intact. Not worried about blowing the tweeters, but I don't want to blow the h/unit :s

Thanks for the help guys

Stock Head unit should take it... I mean the Factory decks usually take a set of aftermarket splits so I am pretty sure the tweeters are in the safe range...
