Took my KE Diamante in today for the WOF test (warrant of fitness) and i only had one issue apart from a tyre just under legal depth, and that was the brake balance on the front was out, the left was braking more than the right, a difference of 38%. i knew right away it wasnt an air lock and after having a look have found that water had migrated past the seals on the two pins that the caliper bolts too on the bracket, they are suppose to be free to slide and let the caliper center itself on the rotor as you brake. They had rusted in place! and not allowing movement, brake pressure was transferring to the passenger side. it wasnt more than 6 months ago that i had checked them for free play and all seemed ok. I am making it a habit of dismantling, cleaning and lubing these parts more often now. Thought it might be of value to someone with similar issues, as this would affect braking distance and performance.

yeah ive just gone through and rebuilt my twin pots for my rada. The 2 brass slide looking things where in good nic but one side was dry as a bone, so before using them i when and got new slides and relubed them. very nice now

Turned out the slides wernt the cause, although they needed fixing. the drivers side pads were contaminated somehow and causing the imbalance, new decent pads and all was perfect! This was after i flushed and bled system, deglazed rotors and double checked everything. on inspection there was no visual clue to give it away, the pads on drivers and passengers looked identical and were near new. I got Ferodo Zeros, which have a special dust coating to help initial bed in. seem to be good pads, i was using the cheaper brake plus pads ($27 for them, $54 for the Ferodos.)

well they are a shit load better than the ones i had and to be honest it stops perfectly fine, im not racing the car so i dont need $100 + pads that will serve me no better, in everyday driving. i never got brake fade on the $25 ones and these ferodos are a damn sight better so far. Can you elaborate on why they are so Awful??

Ferodo Zeros.......

Zero braking!

Edit: I will elaborate, I had many (many many) sets of them on a falcon I had

I had to change all 4 sets of pads every 3 months

They were just crap

I put Bendix GCTs on the rear on my car, no dramas at all with them so far, feel a damn sight better than the metal on metal I had after the first spirited drive in the car...

ha ha ha lol. Well i used to use the brake plus ones from supercheap, and they lasted well. The ferodos have a 12,000km warranty so if they dont last that long ill chase them up!! Yeah Woob, i was suprised the pad caused the issue, there was no difference when compared to other side. i was kind of glad it happened as it made me flush the whole system plus new fluid and grease up pins etc, plus a thorough check of the suspension components too.
