Hi AMC,
I've been having issues with the main remote for my TJII for a week or so, I have since changed to the backup which now works perfectly.
Question is while i'm pretty sure it was the battery dying on me, does anyone know how to replace the pesky thing?
I can't find any screws in the remote... and the user manual was no help either.....

You can prise the remote apart with your fingernails, or a thin blade. It takes a CR2032 cell.

get a coin, stick it in the join groove running around the remote and twist. the two halves will separate and you can pop the battery out and replace it. You will need to reprogram all the remotes once you have done this (check handbook on how to do this). from memory: flick the ignition key to ACC and back a few times and when the indicators blink press a button on each remote.

You'll need to have all the remotes for the car when programming, because once you place the car into program mode, it will forget all previous remotes.
1. To place the car into program mode, turn the ignition between ACC and IGN three times within a 5 seconds period, and then leave at the IGN position.
2. The hazard lamps will flash once to indicate the car is now in program mode.
3. Within 5 seconds of this acknowledgment, press any button on the first remote.
4. The hazard lamps will flash once to indicate acceptance.
5. Within 5 seconds press any button on the next remote to be taught. This process may be repeated for up to four keys.
6. Program mode will be terminated by any of the following events:
* The ignition is turned off.
* More than 5 seconds have elapsed since the last valid key code.
* Four keys have been taught to the BEM.
* No correct data has been received in 10 seconds.

Once done, turn the car off and test both. If it fails, just try again...
One thing the above forgot to mention is when opening the remote, be very careful not to break the solder join. Its no big deal it you break it. Just resolder it on.

If you do break the solder joins, info on that here:
