I get a loud screech whenever i have the wheels fully locked to one side, either left or right.. anyone know what this may be? something to do with power steering? car is a 03 series 2 VRX.

yeah sounds like the power steering belt needs tightening mate, blame Madmagna as he worked on your car last :bowrofl: :P

haha.. i think the noise was there previously, however its a lot louder now..

Mal did an awesome job.. car was really loud when starting cold, now purrrs at me when i start it in the morning. :)

Was an in joke, Mal will know what I mean. But yeah, Check the condition of the belt, see if any of the ribs are cracked...if they are replace it mate.

the power steering belt mate, Sa'll good. on the drovers side of the engine bay, probably a bit hard to see from up top. probably NOT mate but 50/50 right now.

You should not fully lock power assisted steering, especially holding it at lock.

r u saying this is normal? cos i've never heard this before.. I've had power steering in all previous cars and never heard this sound. its pretty loud too!

The sound is from a loose PS belt. I'm just saying that you should not fully lock PS steering. Its bad for the pump. This is regardless of the car.

Have you considered the power steering pump?

My brother's A4 has that problem, sounds like somethings dying.

Check the power steering fluid level as well

thanx dude, will do.. not too much of a bother as long as i don't need to turn sharply - however we all know the magna's have a huge turning circle so i've to be very careful when turning..
