I think you mean $938 US and $1583 AUS? Which sound very reasonable, what Comp ratio/bore size?
Cheers Dave

If you're planning on sticking some more boost into the GT I would be looking at some stronger rods too. They will be the weakest link once you go forged pistons. That LSD will be needed with anymore torque through the front wheels.

I'd be interested but only if I break my motor, not really looking at doing a rebuild for the hell of it but more boost would be nice :woot:

I sorta half wish it would break so I could build something awesome too  The longer I have it in one piece though the less likely I will do anymore with it as it is one of my company cars & will have to turn it over eventually before it gets too long in the tooth. Goes extremely well already & anymore boost will definately break something I think.

I still have the option to play with the water/methanol & probably get it over 200kw atw quite easily without stressing the motor anymore.

I heard somewhere that the rods were already forged....?

Don't think so, I think it's the crankshaft which is forged. The rods are like toothpicks in the G75 & wouldn't take a lot of boost.

The other problem you may encounter is the fuel pump. The tank/pump setup would need to be modified to keep the fuel flow up on a high boost car as the existing pump is an oddball size.

If you were worried about hte rods use the early 3.5 rods with a set of arp bolts fitted. have seen these cope no probs at the 550hp level.
I gather this is for a boosted application were you considering a compression drop to around 8.5-9:1?

the "skinny" rods are forged. I spent quite a bit of time prepping them for shot peening (i.e. removing forge marks etc...).

I still think they're fine (with the right prep) for high revving applications. the lower mass is a benefit, not a weakness.
