Hi all. I am not sure if anyone else has performed this or even if anyone really cares. I have achieved to reverse the tiptronic signal in my 380 so that instead of pushing the lever up to shift up and pulling down to go down, You now pull down to shift up and push forward to shift down. If anyone is interested in doing this send me a message and i can discuss this further. Cheers, Matt

Yeah please publish this in the DIY section. I always found the 380's tiptronic to be counter-intuitive and would love to reverse it

This was done for the third gen tippy i think, and seeing as they are the same box,the procedure should be pretty well much the same.
Still ,cant help but to put it up here for everyone rather than via a pm...and its for a 380,not a third gen...picsorban.....
and welcome aboard as well....

I've done it in my KL. I've found it more natural this way.

Although this was done on a 3rd gen, can't see it being any different

I never thought about reversing it. Sounds dangerous to me, but you guys have obviously done before okay.

The BA falcons are the wrong way around - feels WEIRD!
The 380's have it perfect!

Urgh, there's no right or wrong, but Mitsubishi reversed/Ford standard is more ergonomically logical.

Hey all, Sorry for the delayed response. My photos are not uploading so here is my story. It is as simple as removing both micro switches from the shifting mechanism. as you cannot simply change the micro switch position as the are doweld and only located in one way. Removing the wires from each sensor and using solder to fix them to the oposite switch. once you get the console out of the way and remove the shifter unit from the floor it becomes very clear as you only have four wires in the game ( 2 red a white and a yellow) I also removed the + and - buttons from there positions, trimmed and hot glued into place.
There is no right or wrong but coming from TMR's tarmac rally team and driving a mix of dual clutch and sequential evos, it feels alot more natural reversing the factory direction. I will try again for pics but having alot of trouble.

most seqencial gearboxes shift back for up and forward for down. not saying mitsubishi is wrong but it does take a bit to get used to if your coming from say a holden or ford.

You're quite right.
The layout for the auto boxes found in the magnas & 380s is counterintuitive.

Yep nearly blew up the motor in one of those for that reason...

Even rally cars on their sequential boxes is up for downshift and down for upshift.
The 380 is the wrong way around!

its essentially the same problem as 'look inversion' on video games. to some it feels natural one way and viceversa.
(im inverted (up is down) btw. however i like default (up is up) in my car)
I like the way it is. Especially when down-changing quickly to overtake or to take a corner at speed with the revs up.
Then again, should just fit paddles on the steering like what my Outlander has. Toggle right one to up change and left one to down change. Then again, this may not suit left handers.
