Hi Guy, sorry to ask this question.

my magna 93 2.6l 4cyl done 210,000kms

under D when i turn on overdrive, the shift step from thrid to fourth is free, only rpm goes up.

how to fix, and how much does it cost to recon the gearbox?

please recommend me a mechanic in sydney.

Thanks guy

I lost 2nd and 4th in my auto 12 months ago in my 95 TS V6 with 166,000 klms. I had the transmission fully reconditioned by Central Automatic Transmission Services (CATS) 9662 1458 at Rosebery, and it cost me $1500 with full 12 months warranty. It took 3 days to do, and have not had a problem since, although I haven't done many K's. They have been in buisness at the same place for over 40 years.

all it needs is the end clutch fixed
its a small kit

the job should be less than 300 and the box stays in

I had a 1989 TP Elite that done the same thing, not sure what the problem was as it was fixed under warrenty, but it wasn't a big job to fix as they only had the car for a day, so must not be anything major to fix, cheers

the nearest automatic repairer that gives a good price

get quotes for an end clutch kit and labour

if you have all the gears and reverse and the oil is reddish
you wont need a rebuild

if it is the end clutch
it means just taking off the drivers side
wheel and undoing a few 10 mm nuts

the kit itself used to be approx $100
