Ok i have some speakers that i have had lying around for ages, and ive finally decided to do something about my crackling speakers.

The speakers are 6" - but when i take the door trim off, the holes are in the wrong place. Now i have been suggested to make a baffle?...i think? How does this work and how do i make it - any help? I know i could get it installed by someone, but i want to start learning to do things myself.

With the wiring is it a, cut the standard loom off and solder onto new speakers, or will the old loom work with the new speakers?

i had same problem, i just found some 6mm (ithink) mdf shit up my dads shed, i used a jigsaw and cut a baffle to fit nice n snug onto the plastic one and screwed it to the plastic one then speakers to the mdf one...if that makes any sence? ahah, my speakers have quite small magnets so it wasnt a drama, theres a DIY somewhere

Ok ill try to find it, i had a look before - but i must put in the wrong terms when searching.

Is the baffle just a ring? How did you wire it up?

my baffle was just a big solid bit to cover everything then once it fitted i drilled the correct size of the speakers and screw holes...if you get me? (ill try n find my photos). wirings easy you sometimes u can just disconnect from stock and it may fit into aftermarket if not just cut the plug off, remembering which is positive and negative then either using the spade things and some solder, solder on the spades so they fit on your speakers.

When i bought my speakers they came with the correct spades to install them..makes it easy!

MDF or plywood is fine, plywoods probs better for strength. Is there someone you can borrow a jigsaw off? Or you could buy a cheap one i guess?

Im thinking of going to uni and getting it cut on the laser cutter or cnc router for an 'assignment'.

Use self tapping screws to make new screw holes in the standard plastic baffle. I've done it, lazy I know, but it'll do until I do a full MDF baffle....
