I just went on a merry search trip to find the answer but was unable to find it..
My TF could do with a top up on the Tranny fluid but I have no idea how to check it or how to even top up the gearbox...
Do they have dip stick or something like the Auto's do ??
How can you top it up when it looks like it is sealed ?
Do you use the same fluid for a manual as you do the auto ??

There's a drain plug and filler plug on the front left side of the gearbox, just near the passengers CV and driveshaft. The one on the front side is the filler plug - you want to remove that and you will need to visually check the fluid level and integrity.

Yeah, don't put auto trans oil in a manual box! OP needs to read the owner's handbook, or manual pronto!
Use your finger in the fill hole to find the level. If you top it up it will start pouring out when its at the right level.

Just Checking. Cause the car has no manual .. so its a tad hard to tell what oil I need if I dont ask...
Is there a reason why the Auto box needs a different Oil ? Thickness? Different parts need lubricating ??
I understand the difference between the auto and manual box but if they both do the same revolutions shouldnt the Oil be the same ???

Aren't the two parts of the sentence contradictory?
An autobox oil needs to cool, lubricate and transfer power via the torque converter. It's not a lubricating oil, it is a hydraulic fluid. Different thing altogether.
Mind you, a long time ago a company called Borg-Warner made a 5 speed manual box for the Sigma, but due to some problems with it the manufacturer recommended it should be filled with ATF (Automatic Transmission fluid). Go figure!

Also note manual says GL3, apparently GL5 is bad (kills brass synchros?) but GL4 is ok? I don't know all the ins and outs just a mini warning to check into it!

Definitely would NOT run auto fluid in my manual 'box. Different oil specs exist becasue of the conditions the oil is used in & the lubrication requirements of the environment. Best to use what's specified for the purpose.
