hey i have just put a 1997 tf engine and gearbox into my 1996 te and i have noticed the injectors and cas as well as the power sterring plugs is different to the wirring in my te

will the engine run with out the wiring for the power sterring and cas?

also can i cut and adapt the old injector plug?

if not what is needed???

not without the cas... i have no idea though if u can swap between the two...

put your power steering box on the new engine and your injector harness in aswell problem sorted.

thats the problem.. the engine bay was empty when i got the te so i only have parts from the tf...

The CAS is 3 wires.
Red power
Black earth
Blue 5v+ Signal.

I'm sure they are the same on your existing loom. Modify loom to suit. you need the CAS or the engine has no idea where the crank is. No CAS will mean no engine starty

power steering just again, put a different plug on it, all it does is idle up when you turn the wheel.

The TE and the TF are identical in what sensors are used, just the wiring is in a different place

In the TE< the CAS and the PS wiring goes under the inlet manifold where as the TF both run along the fire wall

You wil need to use ALL the engine loom from the TE in order to get it up and running, remove the top manifold off the old engine and you will see the wiring all there

I "think" I may have a TE engine harness lying around, will have a geeze during the week

Probably something you should have mentioned in your first post.As Stated by Mal get yourself the engine wiring harness from a TE and you should be set.

the injector plug in the te is different it has 3 extra wires a black,yellow and a blue so i guess these are the wires go of and branch off for the cas and power steering?

because i havent got the injector harness from the te i have to use the tf harness but because it is different can i cut the plug of and wire the tf's plug to it and then with the spare 3 wires run them to the cas and sterring pump? if so can i use the red wire from the injectors as there is no second red wire?

i might go to pick and payless and grab a harness but i just wanted to get the engine to crank over to hear it run :(

Id look at the wiring diagrams in a workshop manual to confirm all that before trying it.
