here is the technique for bleeding noisy lifters as per the Max Ellery manual i now have. this is not in the haynes.
. 1; check oil is full and in good condition. 2; run engine at idle for 2 to 3 mins. 3; with engine at idle, increase engine speed to approx 3000rpm over a 15sec interval, then release accelerator and allow revs to drop to idle, wait 15 secs then repeat process approximately 30 times. once noise is eliminated repeat 5 more times. noise should be eliminated after 10 to 30 times. 4; run engine at idle to ensure noise is gone, if not check lifters for wear. hope this helps some who are having probs with noisy lifters ie all of us at some point lol
