Hi all,
I have never bought a car at auction and I am look at buying 2007 Mitsubishi 380 GT DB Series 2 that Pickles have for auction at the moment.

It has done 37400kms and was a lease car for an accounting firm in perth.

Its has a sunroof, dual air bags, abs, 17" alloy wheels, side air bags, rear parcking sensors, leather seats, cruise control, auto climate control and driving lights.

They say mechanical condition on engine = good, gearbox = good, alernator and battery = good, suspension = good, brakes = good, differential= good, lights = good, steering = good.

the body condition is good but has light scratches and a little gutter rash on each of the 4 rims.

car has had all services to date and on time.

How much should I go up to if you were buying the car from them at the auction? any extra adivce or opinions etc

Thanks

No sunroof....I wouldn't buy it just because of that. :)

The best way to gauge how prices are going is to use Pickles Live feature ... register and you'll be able to watch auctions live and see the bidding live. Have a look at say Sydney or Melbourne if you have time.

Usually auction prices are between the Max trade in price and the minimum private sale price on Redbook. So for this car your looking at $18700 - $20400. Depending on condition panel repair etc.

Having said that the 380's I have seen go through have at times been cheaper. This is mainly due to them being a discontinued line and Mitsubishi's usual hard depreciation.

Don't forget you need to factor in Auction fees / registration / stamp duty ... the bidding for these is going to be fairly soft ie your not going to be really competing , what the last bid is will be a good fair price.

it's done very low kms and has a decent amount of warranty left, around $24K mark is where I would stop bidding.

GT's are getting top dollar at the moment.

But they add a few more costs at auction...so better to get carsales for sure.

Here is the review of a Series III GT with sunroof...and pretty much every other option as well.
