While driving in the rain, a rear seat passenger :eek2: in this 1999 TH altera LS wagon was getting wet from water coming down the seat belt. From the outside, it looks like the trim/sealer thingy along the roof line (where gutters used to be in older cars) is sticking out from the car. There is a 2-3mm gap between the black rubber and the painted metal. checked in the back of the wagon floor under the pads - the wood floor has water stains on both sides next to the outside. My guess is leaking through the gutter-gaps. Anybody else have this problem? Is silastic the solution? Do I try to remove the seal strip and reinstall?

remove all the inner trim and get someone to hose the area down from the outside and note where its leaking in from. It'd be better to seal it up from the outside to stop the water getting in totally.

Wagons have a comon issue with the seals on the side glass failing, if this person was in the back which I would think they were if you looked in the cargo area, this will explain it
Remove trim, remove nuts, remove glass, re seal with mastic (NON HARDENING or you will never get them out again) and refit. Problem will be solvered

Thanks, Tufftr & madmagna... I stripped the inside trim. Quick test with garden hose shows a leak at the top front of the rear windows. Now to buy some mastic, remove the windows, clean, and reseal.
