HI all, need some advice, I have a TE in ave condition for its age @ 230,000klm. Anyway last week the auto gave out completely, felt like it was going into drive & reverse (revs droped as normal) but just sat there like the hand brake was full on and the engine just reved. The auto shop took the box out and told me it was stuffed. Long story short will cost the earth to fix, $2500+ or other option is a 2nd hand from a TS for $1400 fitted. Any idea why the TE box is so expensive to overhaul? Oh yea I have a 3lt V6

Im sure you guys have places that do exchange deals ie, you take your old box in and they give you a fully reconed one for around $1200. they then recon your one and do the same thing again with someone else.

I'm about to get rid of my 4sp auto gearbox - done 156,000ks so far. Let me know if you're interested.

went ahead and had it done, goes just as well with a 4 speed as it did with the tippy, maybe a little better. Thanks for the feedback
