Hi,

I've been having the follow symptoms (with my 1999 Th Magna Advance):
- When going from drive to park, it will get stuck in reverse (Would have to go back to drive a couple times, to get into park). But this has gotten better since I first bought the car.
- Going from Park to Reverse is firm / solid and other times it feels like it has shifted to reverse very 'loosely'
- If I accelerate slowly, going from 2nd to 3rd will lunge the car a fair bit (doesn't make it bad sounding noises though, just changes slowly).

Questions:
- Is this a common problem? solution?
- Who should I take it to? Mitsubishi dealer? or a trans specialist?

Thank you for any help.

The problem with it not getting into park almost sounds like the shifter needs adjustment.. Might be an internal problem but hopefully it's just a little out of adjustment!
Otherwise the shift from second to third could just be old fluid.
When was it last changed / flushed? What colour is it now? Should be a nice clear pink

The selection problem sounds the same as what I had (2005 TW)after they replaced my gear selector the second time. It would get stuck at R and not go to park unless you made repeated attempts and some extra force. turned out to be a faulty interlock release button that you push. This was a brand new shifter! They said there was a bad batch of these so they swapped my original handle and button back in and problem was solved. In your case maybe it's worn or broken.

As for the 2-3 shift, the only issue i have is it slips/flares on it's first shift after standing still. No lunging though.

Pretty much as above, the shifting issue is the shifter, is your button broken by any chance, is also a common issue and will cause this to happen

Get a full trans flush, reset the TCU and you should then after a learn get better shifts
