For those who have done the job:

Finally getting around to replacing the sensor on a 3.0L V6 TS.

Sensor needs a 22mm spanner to remove/replace, if I'm right. (need to go buy one)

Copper ease grease at the ready. This is a second hand sensor and I don't want it to seize in case I need a real (ie new) one.

Been looking for the connector inside the car, but haven't found it. Is it approached from the driver's side or passenger side? How high up? Near anything I might recognise? lol

Passenger side, peel back the side kick panel. unplug it first or else it'll just twist the wiring together

Why didnt you buy a new one? there like $80.

Yeah, a bit stoopid really. This one was $35, supposedly tested OK. Impulse buy on eBay. Thanks for the info. Might still end up putting a new one on if this one makes no difference.

Dashes out to the car . . . . .

Yep, found it, in ya face really once you remove the kick panel . . . . lol

Now to get a 22 mm spanner.

$80 for a new one? Mitsu or elsewhere?

Ah was one from supercheap when I inquired a while back. There are OEM type ones and Universal type ones. Cant remember which was which was a while back.

Well if its tested alright....for $35 cant hurt.

Just got it in, using a pipe wrench to undo the old one. It was covered in soot! Is this a bad or good sign? Put the "new" one in, but of course the pipe wrench doesn't want to work in the other direction, so I will still need the 22 mm spanner tomorrow. Finger tight at the moment. Hooked it up and started it up, all ok, hoping to get the fuel economy better. Only time will tell.

Update: looked it up - soot on the oxygen sensor means it has been running rich. Nice to know.

All in, working well. Now the proud owner of a $5 22mm spanner.
Car idles smoother, more throttle responsive.

$124 is the cheapest I can find on ebay, other than the $35 SH one I bought. $75 for a one wire oxy sensor for the 2.6 TS.

Must check supercheap's price. (Just for a lark, might yet need a "real" one soon!)

Total cost, $40, value of new procedure learnt = PRICELESS!

where abouts is the actual sensor? is it just before the cat?
