Hi All,
Been out and about on teh Eyre Peninsula. Took my ride 4WDing yesterday - changed it from Sarejevo white to WHyalla red! She handled beautifully on the slippery roads. Unfortunately got a rather large stone lodged between teh wheel and arch stuck in all the mud. Through creeks, up hills enough to make those (s)off(t)road vehicle drivers shake in their lil booties!
Anyway done 9000km in 3 1/2 weeks. Not a bad effort. But OMG $1.26 per litre for petrol at Yalata   Credit card not been looking to pretty as a a result.
Poor Linda (my car) has loved the driving but it's time I pampered her with a few upgrades.

She is due for some serious work! It's time for new disks and pads - so it's time to UPGRADE! I've yet to visit a specialist, so first up can anyone recommend a decent brakes specialist in the North Eastern Suburbs of Adelaide.
Next, what options are out there. I drove a vic police modded BA falcon (test drive for potential new car for Dad) - it had twin piston calipers on the front OMG! Talk about stopping power.
How much do you reckon is reasonable for a decent brakes set up. I want stopping power.

Next. My suspension at the rear has gone mushy so time for UPGRADE. Considering I spend most of my time in rural SA, driving on dirt, rough roads and generally doing things that yuppy 4WD owners would never dare dreaming about, looking for something stiffer and ... wait for it ... raising the tail and making it stiffer (for the loads I'm carrying). She is sitting on King Spring Lows, but I don't have enough clearance for rocks and stuff. So they're being upgraded too. Pedders will make a little money out of me I suspect.

Oh and a new zorst. And more lights! Mmmmm blinding light power and roo spotting devices. Getting rid of the stock exhaust and have settled on the Lukey. Mmmmmm. This regional consultant is making his ride sweet!

Anyway - just wondering what you've done to get some heavy braking happening. I remember reading about Redavs upgrade to VRX brakes. I'm in no position to do it myself. Not particularly keen on getting mitsis to do it either.

And a few pictures of my ride too - sporting whyalla red also some nice locations.

Hey got to make life interesting somehow. I set the car up to go on the highway - and boy does "Linda" love the highway! I love dirt, just hadn't expected to see so much of it. Creek crossings are "interesting" But still very doable. Just gotta be careful of stone strikes!
Let me reassure you that she handles beautifully off road. Especially sideways through the mud. It was brown undies time for my project assistant yesterday when we went along what the map said was a well formed road - and it was 3 inches of mud! Not good ... but fun. I smiled most of the way anyhow!
BTW unloaded the car sits higher than the pics show - just been informed I have a leak in one of the rear shocks. It's being temporarily patched. 2 weeks (5000km) time I'm doing the major works to suspension.

Just got a quote from Pedders to raise and stiffen my back suspension. $590 for sports ryder coils and sports shocks. Take the car from 40mm lowered to 30mm (I think).

Also just got a quote from Profix for a performance muffler. A 2.5" Panther Triflo muffler replaced from teh resonator back - $295 installed plus chrome tip. Had to specify that I spend around 8hours each day in my car at highway speeds and don't want nasty drone! We saw eye to eye on that. Oh yeah current muffler has a crack from a stone strike.

Anyone willing to comment on that?

Yeah I loved the texture of the whyalla red. It was very artistic. So crusted it was I reckon it protected me from stone chips! But yes very well textured. I reckon MMAL should bring it out as an option. I thought it funny the number of Magnas crusted in red, all the commos and falcons shiney and clean.

Oh and a mildly funny story. Out near Elliston on a cliff top drive, Jeep Cherokee hit a rock and his specialist 4WD burst. He refused assistance from me in my magna with OEM Bridge RE92's. I think he was a little embaressed.

do u have abs? let us know what full caliper upgrades u turn up that works with abs, also VRX brakes are same as other basic magnas, only awd and ralliart get the big ones.

Lukey LR2779 muffler also very quiet not droning and low price as an option.

Yep certainly have ABS.
BTW anyone know how long standard Mitsi Pads are supposed to last for? 25000km?? More?
Anyway the dream is Brenbo ... those come whn I supercharge (as if!!). Anything realistic out there? Not looking for racing brakes, something that has better stopping power than stock standard.

EBC rotors with "stuff" pads. (green, red, etc). See RPW.

DBA apparently wear out your pads too quickly.

Not sure how long OEM pads should last, but I have just changed my originals at 65000 k's. Pads had about 2mm worth of pad left in em....in other words, they were cactus LOL.

But it really comes down to what sort of use your brakes get, do lots of stop start driving they will wear out quicker than highway running. Obviously.
