I have a question. We have a 1993 2.6 wagon. SR 4 Cylinder I think. The last few weeks when first driving while the car is still cold, she shudders and seems to idle very rough. She drives like she has no power. Then suddenly after 500 meters or so she drives quite normal again. Could this be the transmission or some thing else. I had it serviced last week. The mechanic did drive it but it did not do it then. Seems to stop when the car is at normal temperature. Any help would be appreciated before I start panicking. As a woman I don't know much about cars and rely on the integrity of the mechanics

nothing serious if it only plays up cold
could be plugs leads coil TPS
fuel filter
or the auto needs an oil and filter change
what service did the car get

Going off what I've read on here (no experience with this myself) Sounds like the dizzy cap could be cracked?
I'd get him to check the dizzy cap.

It got oil change, Filters to oil and fuel. new spark plugs. The usual checks for a normal service. Nothing for the transmission though.

The distributer (dizzy) distributes the spark to the spartk plugs via the high tension leads. If you follow a lead from a spark plug the other end, it will be connected to the distributer cap.

Just thought I let you guys know what was wrong with my car. One of the cables going to the spark plugs failed to fire up the third cylinder. Mechanic found the problem straightaway when he heard the car. He replaced all leads as they were still the original cable from when we bought the car. Car now has her pep back. Thank you all for your help.

Good to hear problem was fixed and it was not major. Also, sound like a good honest mechanic you have.
