was talking to my local imports guy while cruising around one arvo in the Soarer and when i quized him on possible options for my 2.6 TS, he suggested a supercharger from a Toyota MR2.

so when i got home i opened up the phone book and started ringing around for places that would sell me one. autobarn came up the trumps with a reasonable price of $350 for the charger and i am still waiting on a price for some forged pistons and other internal bits and bobs.

luckily i have a reasonably close cousin whos just finished his apprentischip at one of the local engineering places and already having done alot of work to his own supra, has kindly offered to donate his time and skills to making me some lovely mandrel bent stainless piping for the whole job... FOR FREE!

The Supercharger
The supercharger as i said is from a Toyota MR2 and runs 6psi in stock form. but the 14psi pully kit can be purchased for an additional $75.
It runs an electronic clutch so that it can be engaged/disengaged from within the cabin of the car. I will be running the unit with a Subaru top mount intercooler and plumbed back BOV.

The Engine
The engine in my car had a ground up rebuild while it was out of the car when i had my unfortunate accident about 12 months ago. So the internals should be pretty right, but the following are just a few things that have been suggested to me recently.

- Forged Pistons
- Bigger Injectors
- Possible re-inforced crank.

More info will come as i look into this project more... and more so when i am employed again and earning then a measly $300 a forghtnight!

sounds good, i think since money an issue atm u said, just go for the low boost pully with your already rebuilt engine. The 14psi would need decompression as well as the other internal mods u said, and might kill your trans if its auto, plus cost a lot more. i heard also the 2.6 can suffer cracked block, so for high boost could need cylinder sleeves, all adding up a lot extra $.

let us know if u ever find somewhere to connect the pulleys up to aswell (and pics) :) theres probly room to run it off the water pump but i duno how dodgy/secure that'd b

well folks, still not getting any further with the little project... but the way things are looking i will most definatly be running the sc from the water pump, as this should be the easiest place to do so and will make for shorter piping too and from the intercooler etc.

im also looking at modyfing the standard front bar a little... making it taller...

cut it in half horizontally and add about an inch and a half to it so the bottom is.. well an inch and a half closer to the road =P

simple yet effective.

the brother-in-law and i are going to look at a few things tommorow.. play with a few photoshop bits and pieces and ill get some pics posted later.

cheers
