View Full Version : Removing spoiler and high mount brake light
Well the sports spoiler came off as the paint is stuffed. One problem - it looks hot as! So in order to keep things legal , how much am I looking at for new rear glass with the brake light cutout at the top of glass? Would someone like o'briens do that sorta thing?

Hi Cybermonkey,
In addition to the rear windscreen (which you may/may not have to replace - you might be able to simply carefully scrape off the blackout tint near the top) you'd need to rewire the car and install a high-mount light light (possibly off a TW). Probably easier to repaint/replace the existing spoiler.

Just whack the brake light in, it's still going to shine through the tint.

you have 2 options
You can get a new rear glass and light, will be exxy though
OR use the rear shelf from a TE/F with the low mount light, does not look as good but will be a dam side cheaper and you will only have to trim your tint around this area
You can not scrape off the black from the glass BTW
thanks, A trip to the wreckers is in order on Saturday. My rear window tint seems darker than most so will have to see how visible brake light is through it.
I guess the upside of using TE/F shelf-mount light is that there are shit loads at wreckers these days. Just need to find one with dark carpet.
Wiring-wise should be a simple affair, I wonder if the plugs are the same for the spiler brake light as they are for the rear shelf...

Wiring, if its a low mount just run 2 core from your brake light. very easy. Much easier then up to the roof!
yeah i think thats the go. 1 more problem, my AMC NSW badge is right in the way LOL
