Hi,

Hope this is the right spot for this, I have an 85 TM and I resumed control of this thing off my dad. I put a belt on the compressor as it had broken off at some stage. The problem seems to be that the compressor won't engage when you turn the AC on. The light on the button lights up and juice seems to flow through the switch. It seemed as though no power was getting from the switch to the relay under the bonnet.

Has anybody got a wiring diagram or advice about how the electrics for this work?

so you've checked and confirmed no power is getting to the relay? could then be a wire loose or broken at the back of the AC control unit, broken wire to the relay. if not could be a faulty relay. try triggering the relay manually and see if that engages the compressor.
Fuses OK?

Get the gas checked, if it is low on Gas, then you will hve no air con

The compressor doesn't even click on so I don't think its gas. I ran out of time/light but when I find a pair of scissors I will be bridging the relay. Are there any other major components between the relay and the switch? Its only just too long a distance to check for continuity, as in my leads don't stretch far enough :(

Mal's right. there is a pressure switch in the AC system. so if no pressure - no continuity. You need pressure for the switch to bridge and your AC to work (pretty sure was only an apprentice auto elec for a year) so yeah, check your gas (take off cap and press nozzle keep face away see if gas comes out)

Even if there is gas there, may not be enough to trip the pressure switch

Cool thanks for the tip!
