Just don't take it with you, I'm pretty sure you will short it out if you go in water.

ha ha that is awesome. yeah i wouldnt risk the key, i dont know about you guys but in NZ, it will cost me $30 for the key and $60 to programme it. thats from a key cutting place and i need the old key to programme. god knows how much it would cost for a key replacement, without one to go off, never tried mitsi.

there easy to programme you just switch the key from off to acc about four or five times then just press a button on the remote then the blinkers will flash and tada programed you can do it with up to 3 remotes i think

no no i mean the chip in the key itsself. It needs to be matched to your cars BEM so the immobiliser will deactivate when the key is in the ignition. i could get a key cut to match, but without the programming it would not start the car. it would open doors, boot etc and engine would turn over but no fire.

Are you talking about the key or remote, if you are talking about the key then yes it is waterproof! There is an RFID chip inside the key (like those RFID security cards alot of offices use), and this is waterproof!

Now, as for the remotes, they are water resistance (with rubber seals protecting the insides) but not waterproof, if you let water get in, they will get fried.
