Hi.. I have a TJ VR-X, standard audio system, the car didn't have an owners manual with it when i bought it so ididn't know the code for the audio system, battery was dead so when i charged it up the audio system asked me to enter the code.. i rang mitsubishi dealer and got the code, entered it and it didn't work.. done it 3 times and now it won't let me enter it again, rang mitsubishi again and the lady got the numbers round the wrong way when she gave it to me... so now i have the right code but it isn't giving me the option to enter the code.. how do i get back to the enter code menu?

I think it might have lock up since you enter it in wrong three times, disconnect the battery leave it alone for a bit, then connect the battery back up again see what happen. If that fails buy a after market one because it might cost a bit to reprogram by the dealership.

I'm pretty sure it resets itself over time
Cant remember if you have to leave the car in ACC or not, should be in manual

yeah it probably is in manual, but i don't have the manual, and there are no TJ's in any wrecking yard within 50k's of where i live.. so i can't even check it.. so i was hoping someone with a manual can help me out.... i left the battery disconnected overnight, but it still doesn't have the CODE letters on the screen..

thanks...

that must be a series1... hmm, try holding down each of the buttons for about 5 secs until you find it.

when you do, be sure to post up which one it is.

my money's on the TIME button.

I know it sounds like it is an expesive option, but the Stock Deck is not that great..
These days you can upgrade the stock deck to an MP3 model for under $100..

To install a deck into a 3rd Gen is easy..

Think about this, the amount of times you spend driving to the Mitsubishi Dealer to get a code, could be saved getting a new deck installed..

all sorted, disconnected the battery for an hour, reconnected it, left the key in the acc position for an hour and re-entered the code... all good now... thanks to all who helped :-)
