Hey all, just wondering how the hell you can attach some mesh to the back of a TS grill???
I am gonna put a TS grill on my TR, and want to mod it slightly (take out the bars and put mesh in the back), but i've got absolutely no clue about how to put the mesh on!!!!
I know some of you have modded your front grill's, how did you do it :confused:

i took out the vertical bits and just bent the mesh around plastic. its hard to explain but if you look at the grill from behind it sticks out like a plateau. i just cut the mesh to size then bent it around the edges so it sits over the plastic. to make it permanent i would have put selastic around it but i left it just squezed on coz im gonna paint the grill.

Ive got a TR Grill and i meshed that up (as you can see below), theres a whole arguement over which looks better meshed, TS or TR.. I recon theyr both aight.

I did basically the same thing MAGWGN did, but i used the screw holes to hold the mesh down, dont know how the TS Grill works.

Try meshing up your TR one and see which one you like better.

and Gerard, how did you get the mesh behind the bodykit??

Hey guys and gurls, im about to do my grill, im goin to do the same as Gerard with the top grill but remove the vertical parts as MAGWGN did should look good! another cheap mod :D

Oh by the way im also thinking of paiting my bumpers and side strips black??? any thoughts?

ah.. I took the bumper whole off and basically just bended the mesh behind the grill.. took me a while cause i didnt know what i was doing, but i got it eventually.
And if you cant remove the bumper fully, just loosen it a bit and you should be able to slide the mesh in.

JONO_04 - The black should look good, what are you gonna use? just spray paint? Alot of people do that to their VL's around here, works for them. It would suit your colour too.

im doing the same thing with mine jono. eventually i hope to colour code the whole car black and white. here is a very rough artists impression.

Well im not sure yet goin to look into it, ive roughly heard of a product from my mate that will actually stain the bumper black rather than coat it, but im goin to find out more information soon. OH i always post pics cant get enough of the digital camera!!

MAGWGN- Yea looks ok for a quick job. I Hope it will suit my car as well :D

Cheers mate, that's exactly what i wanna do to my grill (i ended up buyin a TS one, decided i liked em better!!!)
sorta feels like stealin ideas now tho... :cry:
oh well, it looks good!!!!

I actually don't like the TS grill because the front setup and the bottom bumper goes straight across (ie not arch) and so the only grille that looks okay I think is the TR because it matches the front end in my opinion. Having said that if I was going to do something I would probably get the KS Verada grille and mesh that. Would look better than a TS one imo.

i think the grill would look better if you cut the blade thingy. and just mesh it all.

Where did everyone get their mesh from?

I got mine from SSV, but yeah - autobahn, etc. have simular stuff.

ive colour coded my bumpers and they turned out pretty good. Just sand properly, give them a really good clean and scrub & dry, then spray away. Ask samuri for details on his if u want, as he colour coded his bumpers recently.

i did my TR's grill but used alot finer mesh and since the TR grill is 2 peice :D i put the mesh over the grill part so its the outer frame with a fine mesh showing mostly... (pics to come) i also painted the the grill to the same color as my body but with a different kinda hue... plus it acts as a bug catcher lol :confused:

Those fine mesh ones are actually supposed to be as bug catchers, for 4w driving etc.

lol i got the mesh free from work (aluminium mesh) :D the paint cost $5 so it was a $5 mod lol looks heaps nicer though... little bit out of whack the mesh need to reseat it so its really really flat was a bit of a rushed job.... might put some tape round it to make it hold better.... but i was pleased with it... there is a good mod of the TS grill on fastmagna in hte japanese section plus a DIY on some stuff for TR/TS's buti ts in japanese :confused:
