Hey guys, I've been playing with the idea of putting a TL/W console into my KJ Verada for something a bit different. Has anyone actually done this and is it an easy swap over or is there more to it than meets the eye?

we'll you'll need a new door trim. you'll also have to relocate all the wiring to the centre console as all there power windows switch's are there. have fun with that.
personally wouldnt bother.

It's been done here before. I think it may have been matty.c that did it? You'll need the TL/TW climate control module too, but afaik it's plug and play with the TJ/KJ module.

New door trim? For what?
Power windows can stay in the door. You just need to replace the TL window switches with a verada storage box instead. Probably need to get it painted to match, other than that it's a straight swap-over.

Dont pre TL's have all the window switch's in the door? Again sorry as I may of assumed what he meant but I was thinking he wanted to put the TL centre console in (lower) which houses all 4 window switch's, which is why I said to get a new drivers door trim, or else he'll have two sets of power windows switch's so sorry if I confused anyone.

Yes, all pre TL's have them in the door.
So do all KL/KW's - in fact only the TL/TW don't. So to do the shift surround swap, you just need to source the storage box that the KL/KW has instead of the switches. (See Peter Pan's new car). Paint it all the same & you end up with one set of window switches - in the door but a functional storage box, unlike the KJ ones which you'd struggle to fit a 5c coin in, never mind a 50c piece lol
EDIT: I know the OP was talking about the stereo surround, I just wanted to clarify how easy it is to do the lower console too.:)

Hey bud, in regard to tuffy's comment. If you go through with this, I can save you the effort of doing that, cos I have some American Diamante bits coming over, and where there center (window) switches are is an extra cup holder (extra big one too... bloody Americans) So you can keep your TJ door trims :), and auto switches on the doors.
So hit me up if you need it.

Centre lower console on 04 Diamante VRX (http://www.centralautorecycling.com/Other_Photos/Diamante/Console%20Upper%20View%20Open.jpg)
There's a pic of it btw, obviously you can't use the rest of the trim, cos it goes the wrong way, but, the cup holder will fit nicely :)
I've just installed a TL center console and climate control to my TJ AWD which only had manual a/c. It is possible. I used a KW coin box in place of the power window buttons on the TL console. TL c/c will work but you will need to add in the cabin temp sensor as the TL has it's one separate from it's ecu compared to the TJ which has it's integrated. Any Q's please ask.
Edit: If you are using the TL armrest you'll need the center ducting as well if yours doesn't already. On my manual a/c it was a dash out job.
