Hey guys, i've got a strange problem.
My brake lights work when im in park/drive when both my lights are off and on, but as soon as i put the car into reverse my left tail light goes out.
I dont know whats going on with that, the globe is fine it works every other time but as soon as its in reverse it doesn't work.
Any suggestions or help would be great.
Thanks,
Rian
May have wiring expose or bad / crossing contacts. Open the boot, remove carpet on both sides and take out the bulb holders and compare the left ones with the right ones. See this happening on lots of makes of cars, especially the EA-ED Falcons.

okay so i had a look in the boot and noticed some electical tape (when i've changed my lights over i thought it was just to make the wires neater but i pealed one off and i saw exposed wires. I think the young bloke who had the car modified the wires and put them back dodgy..
here are some pics:

didn't open the wires cause i didn't wanna stuff something up. Might have to go to jollies you pull it and get some new wires...yay.

It is behaving as if there is an earth problem that side.
Try putting on the indicators with the side lights.
If the tail light dims in rhythm with the indicators it suggests that you have an earth problem.
I would open up the taped over joint and show what is beneath,

as im the only one home would the brake light and the indicator test work if i had the headlights on? i got new wires from jollies you pull it just then, so ill try putting them in and taking a pic to see if the light still goes out, if it does ill try the grounding issue if it doesn't ill keep the new one in there but pull the old one out to show you guys.

if the wires are broken, just solder them back together?

this is what was behind the tape. It had been re-taped so it wasn't factory but it looks almost factory joined. i dont know im no expert

this was inside the joining clip so that may have caused the issue
http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k111/presti_01/photo-7.jpg looks like something sizzled abit
i swapped the old one with the new and it works fine :) (i just connected the wires and put the tail light in the middle of the boot hopped in the drivers seat and looked through the ski hole haha)
where would the grounding issue be if it was that? the battery ground or one just for hte tail lights?

That looks like it overloaded and melted some wire insulation. Check your fuses to make sure that they are all of the correct ratings.
