i am sorry to post another exhaust thread but cannot find the answe i was looking for....
i am looking at not sure when upgrading my exhaust to a dual system....... i want to have twin tips both rear mufflers so what i was thinking was stainless steel pipes and high flow cat.... then these options
1. no centre mufflers going out to twin rear mufflers.....
2. single centre muffler then branching to 2 pipes and twin rear mufflers
3. split after cat run dual centre muffler and twin rears

what i am wanting is a nice deep sound but not tooo (not "fully sik wrx stylz") loud..... i was thinking of mayb 3' pipe where it is single and then when it branches to twin pipes dropping it to 2'.......
also what size and brand of mufflers should i look at...obviously i want a fair performance increase otherwise i wouldn't look at this setup...... probably due to finances just bolt up to standard headers for a start and go to extractors later......

I just had mine done and its too loud... you will need your centre mufflers...

Magnas have the big 'bomb' type resonator in the centre, an alternative to this is replacing it with a hotdog which creates a slight but nice change to the note but also will keep it from being excessively loud. Guy I work with has dualies on his TJ AWD going straight pipe from cat throught to two small cannons and its actually painfully loud, constant blaring through the car.

If you want more sound of the good kind, do what I did yesterday and today, remove the resonators from your air intake and plug them up with 40mm Welch Brass Plugs.

I tried to do it with McCormick lids first but Woolworths didn't have the right size so they didn't fit very well.

The thing sounds beastly, like a completely different car now.

Also I don't know if this mod is recommended if you don't have a pod filter, but plenty of people have still done it.

Hmmm.. It depends on what you want to spend really.

The cheapest would be to just get them to leave your existing center muffler and just split it after that, just make sure you have a center muffler of some sort please, otherwise it will just sound loud and tinny

Or you could get the center muffler replaced with a larger center muffler that has dual outlets on.. depends on what type and size end mufflers you get as to how loud it's going to be from there

Best of talking to an exhaust shop, but yes, I would pick option 2 :)

Never under any circumstance take out your middle muffler. You will have the shittiest sounding exhaust ever. You have been warned lol

And besides, the rear muffler is the main restriction in the system anyway.

does sound like a good option as cost would be quite low on this aswell.....
would it increase performance much???? how bout also with a h/f cat?????
or for better performance should i widen the pipes from closer to the engine???? not that sure bout exhausts......

so basically an exhaust rear of the resonator and a high flow cat is all it needs?????
will widening the piping change performance previous to the cat????? or just do it after the resonator????

was looking at this.... dont really like the tip however could easily get that changed to twin tips...... is 2 1/2 inch prob a good diameter.....

so after an exhaust like this high flow cat, matching 2 1/2 engine piping and extractors????? or 3 inch engine piping...

I thought you were going for twin end mufflers though? :P

That redback system you're looking at is pretty quiet. Think you might be better off getting the system split after the center muffler and getting two lukey straight-throughs mufflers put on :D :D

well i was thinking that because of the price of this system being quite cheap 2 could be easily cut and welded to make it a twin.......
sounds like a good idea...... would sound like a good place to go first.... split it from there to twin in 2 1/2 inch......
then later go and replace engine piping through to centre muffler with 2 1/2 inch piping...... or would this really be unnecessary????? how much performance gains???? i am after the sound more than the performance......

Is that the redback system, if it is, is that a straight through muffler?

Yes its the redback system, and the rear muffler is a straight through design. It's a quiet one though :)
