Friend has a new-ish Pajero 3.5 with invecs tiprtonic 5sp auto.

It continues to hold onto 2nd gear for ages, and slurrrrs into 3rd on every drive off from cold start... once he's down a few stops and starts .. no problem. Even hassled mitsu so hard about it they've given him a new box. But it still happens??

Anyone got experience of the ECU system interfering/farrking up the transmission changes? would a reset or change of ECU help? cos it seems weird that a new tranny does the same thing.

And he has a friend with same aged vehicle, but never any probs.

In my manual for my 4spd auto (tf) it says until Operating temp has been reached the car wont get into 4th gear... i beg to differ but It could still happen to his car while cold. Boh?

dunno if it is the same.. i havent tried properly cause i always give my car a minute or 2 just to warm up.. then Thrash it since im 10 minutes late for work (could try going earlier youd think?)

Oh and reseting your ecu, well for me didnt do a lot... but it wont hurt trying.. actualy no i tell a lie.. reseting the ecu has made a bit of a difference... so yeah go for it.. just make sure you have you radio code If the pajero needs one!
