Hey guys, got a small but weird problem with the idling of my Magna on cold mornings.
Obviously when the engine is stone cold in the morning it idles a little higher than normal (ie. 1500 RPM) for about just under a minute (im assuming this is normal). however when i put my clutch in to select reverse or 1st to pull out of my car park and drive way, the idle goes even higher again sometimes around 1700-1800, ONLY when the clutch is in though and then it will drop back down to normal once i have let the clutch out and engaged a gear..

Like i said its just a small issue and its more curiousity than anything, just wondering if maybe it could be my ISC or some other sensor which could need a clean/replacement.

Any info or ideas would be great,
cheers.

Really!?
I've never heard of coolant affecting idling on cold mornings! suppose i got alot to learn though haha. any ideas how or why it does it? gonna do a flush soon anyway so we'll see what happens after that!

did you disconnect the battery, may need to reset the ecu if you did so.

on some cars the coolant circut goes through the throttle body as well.

Unless there is insufficient amount of coolant in the system and it takes time for the fluids to flow, no "bleeding" or flushing is relevant IMO.
Idle motor (under the TB) has a thermal spring system, which gets heated by warming coolant, consequently dropping the idle RPM. That can be adjusted slightly - have a look and you'll understand.
ECU adds on revs when AC is turned on, steering is turned, brake pedal pressed etc. Perhaps manual box/clutch causes similar function, dunno - I have auto'box.
But in all, this high cold start RPM is quite normal with Magnas - a feature I don't really like cos it's not good to rev cold engine like that, but....

As above. A lot of Mitsu motors idle up when you start to move, turn the wheel or engage lights and aircon. Most obvious when the engine is cold, it stops the cold engine from stalling as the load on it increases. Unless you get to drive another car with the same motor, you can't really tell if it is normal or not. Its a "safety" feature, imagine grandpa on a steep driveway, reversing out, he stalls it and has no brake boost or power steering. Mitsu wants to avoid court cases! lol

ISC motor. Change it.
