Hi to all, this must have been asked before but is there a trick to getting a manual gearbox off the V6 3l motor? I have had it around 10mm of the block but the clutch fork is holding it from coming off. I think there might be a clip or someting holding the fork in place but I can not see one. When I look up through the round hole in the bottom I still can not see one. Any help would be great. I have sold the box out of my TF demo car to a member here and don't want to stuff it. Cheers and thankyou. Brett.
Haha brett,
I was expecting a call today/tomorrow asking for assistance on removal, was happy to do it :P
Anyways, my guess is its something clutch related (with the hydro clutch and all) but the best bet would be to wait for Mal to chime in as he has done 1000 of these conversions already! :)

These are a pull type clutch, they need to be properly released or will not move
You need to grab yourself a manual or similar and have a look in there as is a little hard to explain without pics, in short you need to move the clutch fork to the LHS of the box, use a screwdriver (manual states one from above and below however I have NEVER used this method) and once the screw driver is on the clip, twist, the fork will the go all the way to the RHS of the box
Mal,
I am downloading the workshop manual now (have also given Brett the link) and looking it up, I have been on the phone with Brett to help him get my box off safely :)
Here you go brett

What a great site, the box is off. After talking to Mal it took 30 seconds to get it apart.
Yes I have not changed my date on my camera!
Cheers and happy easter. Brett.
Can I see the hole in the engine now? :)

would be bad if the rod went through to the bellhousing and mashed up a gear or two...

Rods usually go sideways through the block, not likely to damage the gearbox, but I imagine the engine is kaktus lol
