Hey all,
i am having prblems with my TE.
recently when i start my car, the starter motor has cranked a few more times than it usually does.
and today when i went to start it, the starter motor cranked, but the engine didnt start.
i had to keep trying for about 5 mins before the car started.

now i dont know if it the fuel lines or if it is dodgy wiring in my alarm / immobiliser.
my car runs smoothly once it has started, and only has trouble starting occasionally.

does anyone have any idea what this could be, or have had this problem.
Autobarn said that if the mechanic finds that it is the alarm that is causing the problem, they will replace the alarm for a new one... but i cant get my car into the mechanic untill next week.

Thanks All.

immobilizer will either let the car start or not. If the immobilizer is broken, or activated, normally the engine light will come on, then turn off, then come on again and stay on. If it doesnt work, you can crank it all day and it wont start.

check the connection on the wire on the driver side up on the intake manifold, for the cas

It really sounds like a problem with the fuel like you said, I THINK it might be the fuel pump seizing up.

try turning the can to on and listen for the fuel pump working (like a buzz or hum)

It might be a fuel filter that might be clog with dirt.

Check the plug that connects to the back of the ignition barrel. this plug can come loose and the BEM cant read the chip in the key so prevents starting. i had this problem, and its very common. has same symptoms, runs fine when going but now and then just wont start.

Also check how long it is holding fuel pressure post engine shut down, it may have a faulty pressure reg or valve ont eh pump and it is then allowing fuel to drain back to the tank

Remove the coil aerial at the ignition switch and clean out the crap that builds up over time and refit. Clean the connector as well. Found that this prevented the key to be detected by immobiliser at times. Have not had any problems since with my car.
