Hey I need to get a tow bar for my car. Has anyone brought one for their 380. I want one that when the tongue is off, the bar is hardly visible or not visible at all. Its for a VRX too so i don't want to have to cut the rear insert.

Yep, the Hayman Reese one from your dealer is a perfect fit and I have it.

But...you can't have the twin exhaust kit when you fit a tow bar.

Straty,

I have a stock heavy duty 380 tow bar for sale. But I'm in SA and I think it needs a small cut out in the bottom of the bar to fit. Braedz has a VRX with the same type of tow bar so he would know if a cut out is needed.

Has the Hayman Reese set up so the tongue is easy to remove and once removed doesn't leave a lot showing.

Like you I believed you can't fit dual exhausts with this tow bar, but now I'm not so sure.

When I had my Berklee BS0655 fitted I was told by the exhaust shop that it wouldn't fit with the tow bar in place, so I paid them to remove the tow bar (I didn't need it anyway, but it came with the car).

Then when I sold the Berklee to Braedz he found an exhaust shop to fit it without removing the tow bar.

So I now think that if you have the tow bar fitted first a decent exhaust shop can fit a dual exhaust system around it. Only problem might be getting big enough mufflers to prevent the dreaded drone to fit.

Edit - checked out stratman33's ride and yes, he has a VRX with dual exhausts and a tow bar. The tow bar looks the same as mine (i.e. factory stock), and I can't see a cut out in the pic.

KJ.

the factory tow bar needs a bit of the bumper cut out, theres a templete with the fitting instructions. its a small semi-circle that needs to be trimmed from the insert. with the toungue removed u will see the square hitch receiver.

i've got one for sale as well but in vic with the loom for cars with reverse sensors.

No cut out required on the Series 3 VRX

From memory for about about a $100-150 extra you can get a custom one made which, i guess should clear fine. Paid about $200(standard) for mine with the flat strap loom and while I was there asked for an extra tongue mounting plate which they gave me for free!(told'em I wanted it to weld to the trailer to store the tongue when not in use) I then welded this to the underneath of the original mounting plate but slightly further back towards the spare wheel well. This drops the tongue down and further back abit so the cut out is only 10mm, which is hardly visible with the tongue removed(2 bolts).I guess it comes down to wether you care about a visible bar or not, doesn't faze some people but I hate it! Oh and while your there , removing the muffler(2bolts) makes fitting of the T/bar way easy so ya might as well chuck on a berklee while your there!Unless of course your dead set on a twin set up.

I'll qualify my statement and say if you get the TMR dual exhaust kit you can't have a genuine mitsi supplied tow bar fitted.

There is also no droning with the TMR kit....that's why I would not use anything else, also.....there are no warranty loopholes for mitsi to come up with.
