All I can say is there is a 10? pin plug behind the battery, connected to the auto trans, there is a black/yellow wire here which will need to be bridged. its your starter wire and I would assume it ran through the inhibitor before, but yes, join these two together in order for it to crank!

I have done a manual conversion
no need for extra work or worry
you can just unplug the tranny computer
it is redundant without the automatic
and run the existing auto engine ECU
the only wiring needed is the neutral starting switch bridge
and the reverse light activation wires
the TCU doesnt use them
for the conversion to work

With what motor you are using you should be right in regards to the water pipe, Driveshafts, not sure dude.

um it's just the standard motor i've gone put on the shifter cables and the holder in the engine bay hits the water pip in the valley of the engine

you need to fit the water pipes of the manual motor
because the manual curves away to make room for the shifters and cables
the auto water pipes go straight
dont remember about the driveshafts
what ever fits the best

there is a difference in the drive shafts, only one tho, i cant remember which one it is, its like 10mm shorter or something. changing ECU is a massive job, there is a crap load of wiring, with that loom also having other looms branched off it. such as ABS and SRS systems then door locks ignition barrels and new keys. i looked into it, and thought hmmmm or i could just join these two wires together.
EDIT: oh i didnt realise you were talking about a 2nd gen, might be a bit different

I have made my DOHC one work by using a brass adaptor to change where the heater pipe comes in, it is a perfect fit now with the shift cable resting on the side of it. They only made my motor as automatic so I didn't have another option.
So, that's another option.
