I'm Sorry If this has been posted before, and I hope it is in the right place (this is my first post here):). I have two questions but I might as well place them both here. I have recently been given a late 1993 2.6 lt tr sedan, and I would really like to somehow replace the absolutely terrible speakers in the front (which I cannot reach with a screwdriver haha), and add some possibly in the back. I would like at least 4 in total, and I really dont want to hack into the car much. Does anyone have any advice on where I can actually place these speakers.
ps.. I know how to get the old radio/casette out, but is it worth replacing, and anything I have will not allign up with the screws? I am using an fm transmitter for music but these speakers just fail and crackle all the time haha. Thanks for your help:).
And secondly... Although this may sound a little silly, I would like to know how this car is to drive, because I cannot register it for another few months, and I am quite curious. I looked it up on redbook, but othing beats first hand experience! The person who gave it to me said it was quite powerful for what it is, and it is quite nice to drive. It is the efi 2.6 lt engine, and it's manual (just thought I'd put that in encase anyone had problems with the manual before). (supposedly the auto tranny was not so great in this model, and had a few problems with reliability, however please correct me if I am wrong with any of this). Thanks in advance, any advice is appreciated:).

Welcome to the forum!
Aftermarket CD players bolt straight in. Standard bolt spacing.
Speakers in the dash die due to the sun, hence the crackle.
Put speakers in the door. Mount them on the metal, then put the grille on the door skin. You can remove the door pockets or leave them on if you use 6 inch speakers.
Put another set on the parcel shelf, anything up to 6 X 9 inch.
If the car is in good condition, it is OK to drive. The engine is no dragster but keeps up with traffic, and cruises on 110 KPH all day. Wind it up to 3,000 rpm through the gears and it is adequate.
Let us know how many Km on the car and we can suggest what to check while it is off the road.

I have a 2.6L TS manual, I didn't say it had no power, otherwise it wouldn't move, I said power is "adequate", but it is the least powerful of any of the Mitsubishi Magnas (other than carb autos) currently available on the used car market. So don't try to drag anyone lol
Mine drives smooth and comfortable, so I think it drives well. I also have a 3.0 L auto wagon, which is much more fun.
Speakers in the door: Take the door skins off and what I said will be clearer.

Just to add to what madmax was saying about mounting speakers in the door if its not so clear.
Verada's and some of the higher spec 2nd gen magna's came with speakers in the door instead of in the dash. So ALL 2nd gen doors have the allowance for speakers even if they didn't come with speakers in the doors from factory. If you take off you front door trims you will see a large hole in the metal frame with some mounting points around it in the bottom right corner of the door. This is where the speaker sits.
Some people mount 6" or 6.5" speakers here then cut a round hole in their trim so the sound can get through obviously and then screw the grill that comes with this speaker onto the trim over this hole.
Other people get the door trims from a magna that came with factory door speakers and put these on for a more factory look. I recently did this. More work but looks nicer.
For rear speakers most people put 6x9s on the rear parcel shelf. From what i have heard some but not all 2nd gens have parcel shelves with 6x9's holes in the metal, you just need to cut the hole out of the carpet. IF you look at the parcel shelf metal support from the boot side you will be able to tell if you have the holes. My TS did but like i said i have heard this wasn't the case on all 2nd gens.
If you want to put 4in speakers back in the dash, you will need to:
fight the grille covers off,
use a bent screwdriver/small socket/spanner/anything you can get in there to get the stock speakers out,
try to unplug them with the few inches of slack in the wires (mine were corroded on and the wires came out before the plugs came off),
cut out a fair bit of the plastic from underneath where the speakers sit as it is a very shallow hole,
cut off 2 of the mounting tabs if your new speakers come with 4,
and try to screw your new speakers back in, then find out the grilles don't fit back on.
Bigger speakers in the door is an easier and better option, the only main difficulty being trying to feed the speaker wires through that rubbery tube to get them into the door.
For 6by9s in the parcel shelf, take out the back seats. Base is held in by 2 clips down the bottom at the front, feel for some levers, then lift the seat up and out.
There are some bolts along the base of the back part, undo these and un-thread the seatbelts from their loops. Again, lift up and out.
You should have 3 black screws holding the front of your parcel shelf mat down, and your brake light holding the back down.
Undo the screws, get a permanent texta and go into the boot, trace the 6by9 holes to cut out and unplug and unbolt the brake light.
You can run the wires under the carpet if you like, i originally did, later on when i upgraded the speakers i ran them behind the glovebox and down the side of the car.
